reflection

In the past semester, I learned a lot about the planet and our oceans. I learned that the ocean planet is very diverse and includes many species of organisms, including invertebrates, Fish, and sea mammals. I learned more about these organisms than I expected to learn. I also learned a lot about whales, especially on the field trip. I learned about how some fish need a lot of space in order to survive. Over the semester, we did a lot of experiments about the ocean, in that, we learned more about how the ocean and the species living in the ocean affects us and the other species living on land. We also did a good amount of project, They include the pamphlet and the conservation project. I did my project on the great Barrier reef. I believe I learned a lot this year in oceanography and marine biology. I enjoyed it.

Aquarium field trip

On Wenesday I went to the New England Aquarium in Boston. While I was there I ended up seeing many animals.  I saw penguins.  They penguins mostly just stood there, though some did fight.  Other animals I saw were poison dart frogs, some fish, rays, and sea horses. I also saw corals.

Japan Tsunami wall

In Japan, People are thinking of building sea wall to protect the coast.  The reason why is because in 2011, a Tsunami ended up destroying Northeastern Japan and ruining its economy.  As a result, a plan has gone through to build a wall on its east coast.  Some people support it saying it will protect them.  Others however say that it will ruin the local economy by discouraging tourism.  The towns would also be responsible to maintaining the walls.  My opinion on this is mixed.  I do agree that the walls should be built.  However, considering what happened in 2011, I don't think the walls will do much It might in fact cause erosion making the area even more vulnerable. The walls would also destroy the already weak economy of the area.  I do believe there should be more debate about the walls.

Geological bio timeline

I learned more about the geology of the earth.
I ended up looking the whole Cenzoic era.  I initaly did the tertiary period but I also did the Quartertiary period as well.
I ended up learning more about earths past.

Plankton

1.  I believe the 2010 article is the most accurate.
2. That phytoplankton has been declining by about 1% a year since 1900. In some places it has declined by 40% since 1950.
3.  Warmer temperatures affect directly the cycle of phytoplankton.
4.  It hasn't really changed much over the years.
5. Satalites.
6.  It will end up collapsing the food chain and could cause issues for humanity in the long run.
7.  I think humans are causing global warming I do disagree on the causes though.

relationships among marine organisms.

Marine food web

BActeria is at the bottom of the food chain, It is in danger for consumption all the time.

Phytoplankton

The reason is because other organisms eat them and without them, the food chain would collapse.
A
1. They are covered with shells and are similar to algae and plankton
2.The diatoms end up growing
3. They are mostly found in the first few mm of water.
B
1. remains of diatoms
2. It is reflects by something in its way.
3. it helps
4. most usefull stuff w use.
C.
1. I learned more about diatoms and before this project, I never even heard of them.
2. Are diatoms similar to bacteria or animals?
3.  It helps us move foreward in learning more about the food chain.

Energy Flow

If it is, the energy would change. Diatoms depend on shape and size and are covered by shells. They are mostly found in the first few mm of water.

Human Impacts

As humans are in the food web, they end up having a large impact in the ecosystem. They also have an impact in other ways as well such as destroying the ecosystem.

global wind patterns

1. The earth's uneven heating is caused by its distance from the equator and earth rotation. 2. Earth's rotation helps the air move across the planet. The winds are also different depending on location. 3. Global winds are different across the planet. It depend on the location. In different areas of the earth, due to the rotaion, the wind pattern. Imagine picture here 4. Wind patterns might migrate out of their usual location
